Choose the starting ingredient state

A can of drained beans, a bag of dry beans and cooked beans measured into a bowl are different starting amounts. A recipe’s ingredient description matters as much as the number. Check for drained, rinsed, thawed, squeezed or already cooked before choosing.

The guides identify practical differences: a roasting sheet may need dried chickpeas, filled shells need squeezed spinach, and a loaf needs cooling time. Their tables compare complete recipes; they do not combine several methods into one new dinner.

Compare portions before making a shopping list

Two dessert cups, four dinner portions and one loaf are different yields. Read the original recipe before scaling, and use the serving-size calculator for arithmetic. Use the cooking measurement converter when you need another unit within volume, weight or temperature.
