Keep the soil separate until service
This recipe starts with prepared chilled pudding. If making it yourself, its cooking and chilling happen before the quick assembly shown here. Divide the measured pudding among all four cups first, then crush the cookies and plan equal crumb portions. Clear cups show the layers, but a stable small food cup is more useful than a decorative vessel too narrow for a spoon.
For advance preparation, keep the pudding refrigerated and the cookie crumbs dry in a separate protected container. Add the crumbs, pumpkin and vine shortly before serving as directed. A small curl of icing is enough to suggest the plant; repeated heavy piping can cover the crumb surface. Follow the actual candy and pudding labels for ingredient and storage information.
