Bring a little ghost-and-mummy mischief to your Halloween party with banana ghosts, white chocolate ghost strawberries and candy-coated pretzel mummies. All three are made without an oven. Start the dipped treats first and leave the banana faces until close to serving. The complete measured recipes follow.
Pick a ghost, or make the whole spooky table
The banana recipe makes four ghosts in about five minutes. Each dipped recipe makes twelve pieces and takes about thirty-five minutes, including the stated refrigerator rests. These are separate recipe yields, not a combined guest count. Choose the quantities for your table before shopping rather than treating every piece as a full serving.
The recipes retain existing Fondfolk development formulas; timing is estimated and no kitchen testing is claimed. The pin includes the complete measured versions. Its banana photo shows the whole four-ghost batch; the other photos each show four examples from a twelve-piece recipe.

1. Banana Ghosts
4 banana ghosts · estimated 5 minutes
Ingredients
- 2 medium bananas
- 1 tbsp chocolate chips, a mix of mini and regular; use as needed
Method
- Peel the bananas and cut each in half crosswise. Trim the cut bases flat if needed so the four halves can stand upright.
- Press two mini chocolate chips and one regular chocolate chip into each banana half for eyes and a mouth, with the pointed ends facing into the fruit. Use only as many chips as needed from the tablespoon.
- Stand the ghosts on a plate and serve soon after making.
Make the faces just before the party
Choose bananas that will hold their shape when peeled and cut. Each banana supplies two halves, so the four ghosts need only two bananas. Flatten a cut base only as much as needed to help it stand; the naturally rounded end stays at the top.
The tablespoon of mixed chocolate chips is a working measure, not an instruction to use every chip. Four ghosts need eight mini chips for eyes and four regular chips for mouths. Push each pointed tip into the banana so the flat chocolate base faces outward. Keep the fruit uncoated: the pale banana itself provides the ghost shape.
This is the last recipe to assemble. Have a plate and the measured chips ready, then peel and decorate when you are nearly ready to serve. Serve soon after making; the five-minute preparation estimate does not promise advance storage.
2. White Chocolate Ghost Strawberries
12 strawberry ghosts · estimated 35 minutes including chilling
Ingredients
- 1 dozen large strawberries, washed and completely dry
- 200 g white chocolate, finely chopped
- 1 tbsp mini semisweet chocolate chips, for decorating
Method
- Line a tray with parchment. Keep the green strawberry tops intact. Check that the berries are completely dry before dipping.
- Melt the white chocolate in a dry microwave-safe bowl at 50% power in 20-second bursts, stirring after each burst. Stop when almost melted and stir until smooth.
- Hold each berry by its leaves and dip the lower three-quarters into the chocolate. Let excess drip into the bowl, then set the berry on the parchment, letting a little chocolate pool into a ghost tail.
- Before the coating sets, add chocolate chips to make two eyes and a little mouth on each strawberry. You may not need all the chips. Repeat with the remaining berries.
- Refrigerate for about 15 minutes, until the coating is firm. Serve the same day for the best texture. Keep covered and refrigerated until serving.
Dry berries first; decorate before the chocolate sets
Keep all twelve leafy tops intact so there is something to hold while dipping. Wash the strawberries, then dry them completely before bringing them near the melted chocolate. The upper red shoulder and leaves remain visible; only the lower three-quarters are dipped.
Line the tray before melting anything. Existing parchment is enough, or this half-sheet parchment gives the wet coating a landing place while the little ghost tails form. Fit the lined tray in your refrigerator before coating the full batch.
Use a dry microwave-safe bowl for the white chocolate and keep the recipe’s fifty-percent power and twenty-second bursts. Stir between bursts and finish the last nearly melted pieces by stirring. A suitable spoon works; the silicone spatula set is an optional way to stir and scrape the bowl between bursts, not a tool to leave inside the microwave.
Set each dipped berry on the parchment and add two mini-chip eyes and a mini-chip mouth while its coating is still soft. The tablespoon supplies decorating chips; use what is needed rather than scattering the remainder over the plate. Refrigerate for about fifteen minutes until firm, keep covered and refrigerated until serving, and serve the same day for the texture described in the recipe.

3. Mummy Pretzel Rods
12 pretzel mummies · estimated 35 minutes including chilling
Ingredients
- 1 dozen pretzel rods
- 250 g white candy melts
- 1 tbsp edible candy eyes, for decorating
Method
- Line a tray with parchment. Melt the candy melts according to the package instructions, stirring until smooth. Set aside about 1/4 of the melted coating for the bandages.
- Dip the upper two-thirds of each pretzel into the remaining coating. Let excess drip away, then lay the rods on the parchment. Chill for about 10 minutes, until firm.
- Gently rewarm the reserved coating if needed. Drizzle thin zigzags across the coated portions. Attach two candy eyes near the top of each mummy while the drizzle is wet; you may not need all the eyes.
- Chill for about 10 minutes more, until fully set. Store in an airtight container in a cool, dry place.
Give the mummies two separate setting stages
The upper two-thirds of each pretzel is the mummy, while the bare lower third remains a handle. Reserve about one-quarter of the melted coating before dipping. For orientation, one-quarter of the stated 250 g starting quantity is 62.5 g; this arithmetic explains the reserve, not a different ingredient quantity.
The first ten-minute chill firms the base coat. Only then gently rewarm the reserved coating if needed and add the thin zigzag bandages. A small spoon can drizzle them. If you prefer more control, compare piping bags and tips and choose a small opening for thin lines; the selected product must suit the coating and its handling instructions.
Add two eyes near the top of each mummy while the drizzle is wet. Compare edible candy eyes for that measured decorating ingredient, checking the label and allergens before choosing. The strawberry and banana faces use chocolate chips instead, so keep those separate while decorating.
The second ten-minute chill sets the bandages and eyes. Do not skip it simply because the base coat already feels firm. Store the finished rods in an airtight container in a cool, dry place, as described in the recipe. Leave room above the bandages rather than pressing the decorations against a lid.
A practical preparation order
- Wash and completely dry the strawberries. Line the trays, set out separate dry melting bowls, and check refrigerator space.
- Start the pretzel base coats and their first ten-minute chill. Dip and decorate the strawberries while that base sets. Keep the two coatings and their utensils separate.
- Add pretzel bandages and eyes, then complete their second chill. Keep the strawberries covered and refrigerated after their coating firms.
- Peel, cut and decorate the four banana ghosts shortly before serving. Bring out smaller portions of the strawberries and replenish from the refrigerator as needed.
Working on both dipped recipes can overlap waiting time, but it does not make their individual recipe times a guaranteed combined schedule. Leave extra room in your plan for washing, drying, clearing refrigerator space and decorating at your own pace.
Keep the food, faces and storage consistent
Follow the FDA’s produce preparation guidance: rinse produce under running water, without soap or detergent, and dry it with a clean cloth or paper towel. Store perishable produce such as strawberries in a clean refrigerator at 40°F (4°C) or below.
Use the same decorations in the recipe and on the table: mixed mini and regular chips for bananas, mini chips for berries, and edible candy eyes for pretzels. Decorative craft eyes do not belong on the food. Check every ingredient label for the guests’ allergens; a coating or Halloween shape does not make a treat suitable for every person.
Serve the fruit and pretzels on separate dishes so the dry handles do not sit against damp fruit. The banana recipe is for prompt serving, the strawberries stay covered and refrigerated until serving, and the pretzels keep in their own cool, dry airtight container. Those different instructions are part of the recipes, not interchangeable storage options.
