12 squares • est. 60 min • 4 shown

Ingredients

  • 6 cups crisp rice cereal
  • 10 oz marshmallows
  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla
  • 6 oz white chocolate
  • 24 candy eyes

Method

Melt butter and marshmallows on low; remove from heat. Stir in vanilla and cereal. Press gently into a lined 9 × 13 in pan. Cool 30 min; cut into 12. Melt chocolate gently; drizzle bandages. Add 2 eyes each; set about 15 min.

2. Witch-Hat Brownies

9 brownies • est. 90 min • 3 shown

Ingredients

  • 1 brownie mix + its required ingredients
  • 1 cup purple/orange frosting
  • 9 small cones
  • 9 yellow square candies
  • no sprinkles needed

Method

Prepare and bake mix in its specified pan, following box directions. Cool fully, about 60 min; cut into 9. Divide frosting over squares, reserving a little as glue. Add 1 small cone hat and 1 yellow candy buckle each.

Actual baking/cooling time depends on mix.

3. Chilled Pumpkin Cups

12 small cups • est. 2 h 20 min • 3 shown

Ingredients

  • 1 cup graham crumbs
  • 3 tbsp melted butter
  • 8 oz cream cheese
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup plain pumpkin purée
  • 1 tsp each pumpkin spice & vanilla
  • 1/2 cup whipped cream
  • 12 candy pumpkins

Method

Mix crumbs and butter; divide among 12 × 60 ml cups. Beat softened cream cheese, sugar, pumpkin, spice and vanilla smooth. Divide over crumbs; cover and chill 2 h. Add whipped cream and 1 candy pumpkin each.

Spoonable, not baked or unmolded.

Mummy squares: gentle heat and a light hand

Line the 9 × 13 inch pan with parchment before melting anything. Stir the butter and marshmallows over low heat just until melted, then remove from the heat before adding the vanilla and cereal. Press with a sheet of parchment rather than packing the mixture forcefully. Let it cool until firm enough to cut; thirty minutes is an estimate, not a guaranteed setting point.

Divide into a three-by-four grid for twelve squares. Melt the white chocolate in a dry microwave-safe bowl at half power in short bursts, stirring between bursts. Put it in a small piping bag or clean food bag with a tiny opening. Pipe thin crossing bandages, leaving an eye gap. Press in two candy eyes while the chocolate is tacky. Allow it to set before stacking.

Brownie hats: let the base cool first

Use a brownie mix intended for an ordinary square pan and follow its own ingredient quantities, oven temperature, pan and doneness directions. This recipe does not replace those instructions with a universal baking time. The total estimate may be longer for a thick brownie or a mix that needs extended cooling.

Wait until the brownies are fully cool before adding frosting. Cut nine squares and divide the cup of frosting among them, keeping a small reserve to attach the yellow candy buckles. Choose small ready-to-eat cones that fit the squares. A chocolate cone is optional: plain small cones work too. If trimming is necessary, do it carefully before assembly and save the crumbs. Sprinkles are optional in the original illustration and omitted from this version.

Pumpkin cups: why the method is chilled

The original pin suggests baking a cream-cheese-and-pumpkin mixture without an egg or another added setting ingredient. We have not tested that formula as a baked cheesecake, so the article does not promise that it will hold its shape when removed from a muffin tin. The quantities are retained, with a measured half cup of whipped cream for topping, and the mixture is served in small cups with a spoon.

Use twelve food-safe cups of at least 60 ml capacity. Divide the crumb mixture evenly, pressing lightly. Beat the softened cream cheese with the sugar until smooth before adding the pumpkin, spice and vanilla. Use plain pumpkin purée, not sweetened pie filling. Divide the filling among the cups, cover and chill for two hours. Chilling helps texture but does not make this a tested firm-set cheesecake.

Add about two teaspoons whipped cream per cup and one candy pumpkin just before serving. The cups will be small tasting portions, not twelve full-sized desserts. Their exact filling level depends on the cream cheese, crumb packing and cup shape.

Make-ahead and serving notes

Prepare the pumpkin cups first so they can chill while the brownies cool and the rice squares set. Store components separately, then add the frosting hats, candy pumpkins and whipped cream close to serving. Small trays are easier to replenish than one large display left out for the whole party.

Keep perishable dairy desserts refrigerated at 40°F / 4°C or below. Refrigerate perishable leftovers within two hours, or one hour above 90°F / 32°C. Follow the frosting and chocolate package storage directions. Check actual labels for milk, wheat, egg and other allergens; the brownie mix and decorations determine the final allergen list.

FDA food-storage guidance supports these refrigerator and serving limits.
