Add the headstones at serving
The pudding is already prepared and chilled before this recipe starts; its cooking and cooling time are separate if you make it from scratch. Portion the pudding among four cups, then distribute the crushed chocolate-cookie crumbs. Clear cups show the layers, but any suitable small food cup works if it holds the measured portion comfortably.
Pipe the simple decoration on the oval biscuits while they lie flat. Stand them in the pudding only just before serving so they spend less time absorbing moisture. Keep the pudding refrigerated during the earlier preparation, and protect the biscuits separately. A shallow crumb layer reads as soil without needing to pack it hard enough to force pudding up the sides.
