Lift the dipped cookies with a fork

Reserve the drizzle portion before dipping. A fork supports each cookie while excess coating runs back into the bowl, helping avoid a heavy puddle on the tray. Lay the cookie flat on parchment and leave the first coating to firm. Keep the uncoated reserve cookies away from warm dipping utensils until their turn.

Rewarm the reserved coating only as its package permits. Drizzle thin lines across the firm surface and add the eyes while those lines are still wet. Wait for the final set before moving or packing. If giving the cookies away, include the sandwich-cookie, coating and decoration ingredients; the white exterior hides the original cookie rather than changing what it contains.
